Aboudramane was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in 1961. He lives and works in Paris since 1988

“Born in Ivory Coast but living and working in Paris, Aboudramane has created a vernacular architecture that coexists with present sensibilities about dwelling within a given space. Focusing specifically on forms that function as architectural possibilities, the artist’s sculpture references traditional contexts of community and suggest a fantastical, almost futuristic architecture. These structures reference different moments, ranging from the spiritual (Le hangar du sorcier, 1992), to the everyday (Coiffeur, 1990), to the presence of death in the midst of dwelling (Village avec tombes, 1988). Far from naïve models, Aboudramane’s structures are meticulously created and display a variety of domestic spaces, presenting scenes of neighborliness that possess oneiric qualities.”
